Who We Are

Established in 1970, the Medicine Hat Community Housing Society is a charitable organization under the Societies Act and has the following designations; Housing Management Body established by Ministerial Order under the Alberta Housing Act, Community Based Organization/Community Entity for Medicine Hat.

Through these designations the Medicine Hat Community Housing Society has two core business functions:

Housing Programs & Housing Supports

providing social and affordable housing programs within Medicine Hat, providing residential support to those citizens who are in need of affordable housing options.

Community-Based Homelessness Initiatives

leading and coordinating initiatives in the community dedicated to ending homelessness.

What We Believe

Integrated community living in appropriate and affordable housing is fundamental to the well-being of individuals, families and the community.

Housing is a prerequisite for full participation in our civic culture and our economy. The provision of affordable housing is a joint responsibility of the individual, public sector, private sector, and the community. Developing community partnerships is the most efficient means of addressing the issue of affordable housing. Community input is valued and will continue to be sought as the means to grassroots decision making.
